Sorry I’m a little late to the party! Now that I have access to the forum, I’d love to introduce myself. My name is Yvete Kabarity; I’m a 2020 PharmD candidate from St. John’s University. My passion for pharmacy started when I was a senior in high school. I worked as a technician in my neighborhood pharmacy and a light bulb went on! Since then I have collected experiences in several different fields of pharmacy. I worked for Rite Aid as an intern for approximately 4 years. I then made the transition into specialty pharmacy after accepting an offer that I got from my IPPE community rotation. I’ve also had rotations in managed care, pharmaceutical industry, hospital, as well as ambulatory care settings. What I appreciate about pharmacy is not just the diversity but also the opportunities that pharmacists have nowadays. Counseling patients and having meaningful interactions to help fill the gaps in care is one of the aspects I enjoy most about my profession. For this reason, my aim is to work in ambulatory care settings after graduation. Outside the world of pharmacy, I love spending time with my family. Some of my favorite activities are traveling and going on road trips with my husband and baby girl.
Looking forward to working with you all!
My name is Dirshti Ramchandani and I am currently a 6th year Pharmacy student at St. John's University, College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Growing up I spent a lot of time at my uncle's pharmacy and observed how compassionate he was towards his career as well as his patients. Seeing him make such a difference in the health care field inspired me to becomes a pharmacist and make an impact on patients. During school, I was part of a professional pharmaceutical fraternity, which helped refine my leadership skills as well as gave me great insight on different career paths pharmacy has. Throughout school I worked as a pharmacy intern at CVS and a independent pharmacy (Rockville Center Pharmacy), where I honed communication skills, multitasking, etc. For my post graduation plans, I recently signed my contract to work as a pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy. However, I will try to pursue towards a residency this coming year because I want to become a clinical pharmacy specializing in Diabetes in an ambulatory care setting. In my free time I love to watch shows on Netflix and Hulu, as well as bake. I look forward to working with all of you this month! Its our last rotation, lets make it a good one!!
Thank you for introducing yourself and telling us about your career aspirations. Also, many thanks for taking a leadership role and sending out the ppt to the group.
My name is Vivian and I'm a 6th year pharmacy student at St. John’s University. I always had an interest in science and healthcare in high school, and decided to pursue pharmacy because of the different opportunities the career offered. I am currently a pharmacy intern at Walgreens, and have worked there for over 4 years.
Throughout my APPE rotations, I have had the opportunity to experience a variety of different practice settings. I have a particular interest in community pharmacy, and I look forward to pursuing a career in this setting after graduation. In my spare time, I like to watch movies, browse youtube, and try new places to eat. Currently, I’m also trying to learn how to bake. I look forward to working with everyone!
Hello Vivian, welcome! Thank you for sharing your experience as a pharmacy students these past years, your hobbies and newest interest of learning to bake. Life balance is very important as a Pharmacist, this career can be stressful at times. Looking forward to working with you this next month.
My name is Bansi Dhaduk and I am currently a 6th year Pharmacy student at St. John’s University. Growing up, while I’ve always been driven towards the sciences, I have also always had a strong interest in business. In fact, I applied to both pharmacy and business schools and although in the end, I chose Pharmacy, I knew that my ultimate goal was a career that would let me combine both passions. During college, I was part of a sorority where I was able to really grow myself both professionally and personally and enhance my leadership skills. I also worked on campus, interned at CVS Pharmacy, and worked as a Field Marketing Brand Ambassador for Power Crunch. During my APPE rotations, specifically my industry site, is when I knew for certain that I wanted to work in the pharmaceutical industry, and in particular the commercial aspect of pharmacy. Following graduation, I will be completing a 2 year post-doctoral fellowship with Johnson & Johnson with their U.S. Oncology Franchise Marketing team. During my fellowship, I will also be pursuing my MBA degree. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, working out, and watching basketball. I am a huge Harry Potter fan and took advantage of the time at home over the past 2 months by rereading all of the books.
